Economic Impact for the Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport

Each year in South Calrolina, 20,385 visitors arrive an airport on a general aviation plane. Visitors to South Carolina often have expenditures for lodging, food, ground transportation, entertainment, and or retail purchases. Visitor spending helps support jobs and payroll primarily in the hospitality business.

Airport Improvements

The airport underwent a $4.4 million transformation in 2011 with renovations to the terminal building and two new units of T-hangars. 

In 2019 a completion of a $30.5 million runway project. The runway was extended by 650 feet bringing the total length to nearly 6,000 feet. Extending the runway safety area by 200 feet is also part of the expansion plans due to FAA requirements.

TERRY CONNORTON - SPARTANBURG DOWNTOWN MEMORIAL AIRPORT

Terry Connorton - Airport Director

A native of the United Kingdom, Terry Connorton is a world traveler working in tourism and technology. He is a Certified Flight Instructor and United States Coast Guard Licensed Marine Captain. His vision for the Airport is to promote the airports long history, develop aviation business and focus on the airport community outreach programs.

Taryn Morris - Front Desk 

Taryn Morris joined the Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport in December of 2021. Serving as the FBO front desk administrative assistant , Tayrn has become a valued member of the Airport team and is dedicated to providing quality service to based and transient clients.
